Old speakers wires are green and black, speaks also have no markings for positive or negative. Am I safe to assume black is ground? The speakers were OEM.

Yes, black is normally negative (not necessarily ground, just negative.)

Ok, I will use the black as negative. Wish I could say that I would have a report real soon, but I figured since I had ever pulled apart, I might as well see if I could solve the clock issue on the radio, so I pulled the harness and have cut and am resoldering everthing, and double checking all wiring charts.

Between the carrier losing the front speakers and accessories last weekend. Finally got that straightened out, pulled the head unit and re-soldered all the wires, used some new butt connectors with the solder built right in, hit it with the heat gun and everything is soldered and waterproofed in one step.

Still having the issues with the clock on the head unit, even reset it as someone had suggested, I think there is a short, luckily I bought the extra coverage so I am double covered.

Then this morning when I go to install the speakers in the rear, find out that Amazon sent me a pair of 6-1/2 inch rounds instead of the 5 by 7's that I ordered. I thought about keeping as I have conversion mounting brackets then read the specs and they sent me 80 watt, 2 way and I had ordered 300 watt 4 way speakers. No way I am downgrading that much. Quick pop online with the phone app, secured a return and reship of the proper item, reserved a Amazon locker in Sacramento as I was up there at the doctor's, a quick visit to Fedex Office to print the label, slapped it on the box, dropped it off on the way home.

Now I still have to wait for the 5 x 7's to be shipped and to arrive and then maybe I can finish this project.

On the plus side, the road trip to and from Sacramento the music sounded great, the door panel is still off on the driver side, the appointment was made last minute while I was running errands. So I was in shorts, several times I felt the vibration on my leg, so I thinking a sub-woofer is not needed.
