The plot thickens-
I went to Dodge's website: https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html
Entered my VIN. It says it doesn't work for trucks older than 1998 but I rolled the dice, entered my VIN and got:
Now if I scrolled down a bit further to options I get:
So SRAC76, I'm not doubting you- but it's looking like I won't know what I have until I put eyes on it.

every 92/93 factory V8 truck I have seen or worked on (there have been a BUNCH!!!) has been a 46 RH, AKA 518.... V6s were the A500/ 42 or 44 RH..... SOME V8s got these later.but not all. the 46 is a heavier duty trans BUT the OD section between them is IDENTICAL/ only difference there has to do with 2wd or 4wd.
and again the RE series did not come out until the 96 model year!!! RH means hyd controlled governor... RE means electronic (computer) control governor. one less headache to worry about pre 96. externally the trannys are very much alike between an RH and an RE. the biggest difference is a 3 pin or 7 pin connector on driver side (NOT talking about neutral safety switch here!)
