1990 3.9 ac bypass
I have no intentions of ever fixing the ac in my truck so I was going to remove everything under the hood. I can't find anyone that makes a bypass pulley for it. Has anyone ever seen one?
If you check the parts lists (downloadable from the FAQ in the stickies), you'll get the part numbers for the idler pulley used by Dodge back in 1990 on page 8-1300.
Past that, no.
However, some of those part numbers turn up current hits when you Google for them.

If it's the same as the 3.9 and 5.2 magnums then you don't need a bypass pulley, just a new belt and a belt for a 05-11 Tacoma 4 cylinder with AC works. Can't for the life of me remember where I read that but I can confirm it is correct.
Edit: the above is not relevant to the LA motors so only applicable to '92-'96 Magnums. Apologies.

If the 3.9 wasn't changed for 1994, try this.

I would assume all the Magnum 3.9 engines would be the same. Maybe your non-Magnum will fit.
1990 is the V-belt LA based 3.9, yes.
No, you can't just use a shorter belt - the V-belt uses the A/C as the idler for the alternator. Goes crank --> AC --> Alt. Shorter belt just to the alt? Has to go through the water pump.
For 93 ragtop - early 91's were V-belt, later 91s were serp, but NOT the same setup as the magnums. (Of COURSE not, that would have been too much like right ... )

Just wondering here, is the clutch and pulley shot on the OP's original compressor? Just unplug the wires and let it free wheel if the pulley is good.

The clutch is starting to get loud as it free wheels. I'm guessing it's just a matter of time before bearing goes out in the compressor.
If nothing else, get a used one from the bone yard with a good pulley and use it as an idler.
