I had kinda hoped to do the body mounts on Friday but that will have to get pushed out. I’m finishing off the wife’s Jeep on Friday so I’m looking at Sunday or Monday if I’m up for it.

Anyone want to take a shot at guessing the torque spec for these body mounts? If I had to say, about 60ish ft/lbs.

In the FSM, check page 13-49.

Quoting from the bottom left:

3) Install the cab holddown bolts (Figs. 14 and 15). Tighten the bolts with 81 N*m ( 60 ft. lbs.) torque.

You’re far better at digging up stuff on these FSMs than I am. It’s no contest.

But I am pretty good at guessing torque specs, it would appear.

I finished up the wife’s Bleep today but I’m taking the next 2 days off (other than to soak the body mounts with PB). I’m really tired of messing with automobiles. I need a break even if it is only a couple days.

Thanks, R

Did you make it to the pick n pull yet?

Yes, I made it to one.

Got both speedo cables, the speedo adapter from the transmission, the VSS, the overflow tank, and ... something else, I forget.

Also all the screws.

I'll be back in Texarkana next week; I'll see about hitting the other one, checking out that 89, and maybe getting the emblem off the hood (which I want, but do NOT need!)

And, alas, the 450LB/ft impact wrench would not even BUDGE the cab mount bolts, so I didn't get the washer-with-stem or washer.

Tuesday was a No Good Bad Horrible Day. My fairly new master cylinder decided to blow out; when I pulled it off, the brake fluid was dripping from the booster.

So new booster and master cylinder ordered from fastest delivery; but FedEx dumped the ball.

(Didn't really want DuraFail, but eh, all I could FIND in town.)

I'm using CCP's instructions and will spray paint the master cylinder before I assemble for Christmas Eve ...

Good news! I got the new speedo cable in the truck.

Cool! Get the emblem! Who cares if you don’t need it. Be a kid once in awhile.

I’ve been messing around with that car-part website the last couple days. Man alive, the boneyard business sure has grown up! The internet is the perfect tool for that industry. Impressed!

They don’t have all those parts pulled off the heaps do they? I can’t imagine. So you can buy a part from one of those junkyards and they pull and ship for you?

Last I went to a junkyard (many years ago), you showed up at the junkyard and had about a 50/50 chance they’d have the common parts stripped and racked. All others you had to rip them out yourself.

Havent looked at Hollander yet. I’ve been enjoying car-part too much for now. Nice to plug in the VIN.

Oh, no! Did you try a 360 lb man with a 6’ cheater bar on those bolts?

Bad news on the master. Quick recovery though. I had to settle for a Durafail left front axle for the Jeep. It was their Gold line so maybe it wont be too bad. I’ll find out.

We had a couple yards around here that would have an 'all you can carry' weekend for like 50 bucks. NOTHING was taken off the cars by the yard. Four of us went with a nice collection of tools, a wagon to carry the tools. We pulled the hood off of a Caddy, piled all the stuff we wanted on it, paid our money, and walked out with thousands of dollars worth of parts. (carbs, intakes, compressors, and anything else we happened to see, whether we needed it or not.) Of course, that was back in the 80's......

HAHA!! Sounds like trick or treat on a Saturday. Grab a pillow sack and hit the pavement from sun up to sun down.
