Ouch. That's a real bummer.

So yesterday the county finally issued the building permit, 7-1/2 months after the fire. We should be off and running soon. I have not heard the framer's schedule yet, but the trusses are going to be delivered by the 11th. I'm excited that we are finally getting some traction. Bring on the lumber!!

I just got word the framing will start on the 18th, a week after the trusses arrive. The framing crew have a telescoping forklift, in case anyone thinks that sounds backwards. Usually the truss delivery happens after the walls are framed. Who am I to question their plan, as long as I get a building!

So long as the trusses are there when they are ready for them, who cares when they show up.

Starting on the 18th??? How's the weather where you are??? Thinkin' about gettin' cold here.....

Overnight in the twenties, highs in the fifties. We just got our first good snowfall in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Shop 1.0 broke ground on January 8, 2018, and took six months to complete. So we are getting a couple of months jump on the weather schedule. This contractor has larger crews, so the work should go faster than last time. I am thinking the building will be completed sometime in January. Like the Shirk Brothers, the work starts in TWO WEEKS!

When I first registered my baja bug around 18 years ago, my young children named the car The Sneeze. This is how they came up with the name, and thus my log in name...

Hhhmmm..... It's not a huge building, When I did construction over the summers, (back in my college days....) We built a couple houses in about 4 months..... That's starting with a hole in the ground, to moving folks in, in four months. Hopefully, the larger crews will dramatically shorten the time frame for ya.

My contractor called yesterday, and asked if the framers could come on Monday (a week ahead of schedule). So they will start new construction the same day the trusses show up. By mid week I will finally see another structure in my backyard! It's been 8 months since the fire.
