Yes! I had to make sure it was really in there. Actually, I want to get it onto the new engine stand. One to roll it into a corner and get it out of the way, and once on the stand I can start work on it. I have to swap out the oil pan before it goes in the chassis.
That's pretty. I understand your motivation for uncrating it now though. Prolly not easy to move that hunk of metal around while in the crate. (without resorting to the gantry....)
This morning I got the Dak back in the shop before the big storm comes in. We have 45 mph wind gusts, so it sucks being outside. The rain/snow is supposed to arrive this afternoon. As soon as I realign the Dak to the shop door, the disassembly begins. First the bed, then the front end, followed lastly by the cab. Once the drivetrain is out of the chassis, I will have a mobile blasting company come to my house and blast the chassis clean like last time. SERIOUSLY - if anyone is interested in some or all of the body, I would prefer it goes to a good home and get repurposed rather than end up in the wrecking yard.
I haven't even plumbed my air lines yet, and I am still going to start pulling things apart! I didn't get any wood moved into the shop today, so no way to heat the shop. All my wood will be soaked by morning. So the next two days while the storm blows through, I will be working on my personal property inventory for the insurance claim. This weekend I will get back in the shop to start the tear down.
For quite a while, I just plugged my air hose directly into the compressor. (it had a quick-connect on it at the time.) I still have my 240 volt, two-stage compressor, with it's 100 gallon tank, but, as I don't have 240 in the garage here, I haven't hooked it up. Don't think I have used it in 2 or 3 decades..... I probably should just sell it..... Not like I do a lot in the garage any more, and my little upright compressor does everything I need it to.... The old feller was an industrial compressor... cast iron compressor, real steel tank. That thing is HEAVY....
