I lost a Rutland drill mill in the fire. It came out of the metal fab shop I ran for 24 years. I got it for $250, and paid $600 for a phase converter to get it to run. I had 3 of 4 set ups to finish a fixture I was making when the building burned down. Sadly, I don't think that piece of equipment will get replaced.
Yes, that is part of my "personal property" claim. I am still compiling the inventory of all of my tools and equipment so I can submit that part of the claim. They will assign a depreciation value to everything, and they are telling me they do not do brand to brand replacement. So who knows what I will end up getting. Trying to complete an inventory of 45 years of accumulated tools and equipment is no easy task. They want date of purchase, price before tax, brand, part number, etc..

They want all the information as when you can't really provide it, they can decline to pay you..... My tool collection has accumulated over a similar time frame... Think I started when I was like 14..... 64 now..... and yes, I still have some of the tools I got when I didn't even have a license yet. I would be hard pressed to give a complete inventory of what I have, let alone when I bought it, or how much I paid for it....... A lot of this stuff, I probably paid a tenth of what it would cost to replace it today.....
And, just out of idle curiosity, how much 'depreciation' would there be on a wrench, or a socket?????
And so, it begins... (again) The bed is off. I found a little surprise lurking between the bed and cab. Too bad it's not a metal sign, just a foam board one. I have to admit, I am a little compelled to hang it up in the shop.
I did it all by myself, until it was time to put the gantry crane back in the shop. With only three inches of clearance with the door frame, it requires two people. Being very careful!
