Hi. I have a 1989 Dakota 2.5L 5 speed base model with 314,500+ miles. CEL is on, running bad, and running hot. It has codes 12, 24, & 23. How do I go about diaging these codes? Till now, It has been a great truck.
Thanks for the PDF. It helped a lot. I have B+ on the orange wire on the TPS. Max volts should be no more than 4.6 at WOT. Where is the most likely place that is feeding voltage to this wire?
Look at what wires are close to it at the PCM connector, and what voltages they should be carrying...... I think most of the sensors get their 5 volt reference signal from the same place... and that will REALLY confuse the PCM.
I have the 5 volt reference on the violet wire. I have a good ground at the blk/lt blu wire. The orange wire has full B+ KOER. What feeds the orange wire?
Orange wire goes from the sensor, to the engine controller. I don't really see anything that should feed that circuit 12 volts..... gotta be a bad wire in the harness somewhere, or, the controller is internally shorted.
Hey You is right. The orange wire is getting fed B+. I cut the wire at the sensor and the PCM connector. I ran a wire between the sensor and PCM connector. The light is out and the truck runs like normal. Now I have to find the fault. Thanks for the help.
