Default Dimensions of OEM Infinity amplifier.

Does anyone have dimensions measurement for the OEM infinity amp located by the passenger kick panel???

Infinity finally came out with a compact Kappa series 4 channel amp that might be a good fit replacement to the OEM infinity amp. Here are the specs for the Infinity Kappa series 4 channel amp.

The dimensions for the Kappa 4 channel amp is 13" x 7-1/16" x 1-3/4"

http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/p...spx?prod=KAPPA FOUR&cat=AMP&ser=KAP&Language=ENG&Country=US&Regio n=USA

I would love to replace my oem infinity with this kappa 4 channel amp!

POWER AMPLIFIER
DESCRIPTION
Models equipped with the Infinity premium
speaker package have a separate power amplifier
unit. This power amplifier is rated at 100 watts output.
The power amplifier unit is mounted to the right
cowl side inner panel under the passenger side end of
the instrument panel. The power amplifier unit can
be accessed for service by removing the trim from the
right cowl side inner panel.
The power amplifier unit should be checked if
there is no sound output noted from the speakers.
For diagnosis of the power amplifier, refer to
Speaker in the Diagnosis and Testing section of this
group. The power amplifier cannot be repaired or
adjusted and, if faulty or damaged, the unit must be
replaced.

Ah shucks. Oh well, I will have to manually measure it then. I am almost sure the rear channel output is giving out. It is just not anywhere near loud compared to the fronts.

Going per post photo
Without the top brackets, size is 8 1/4 tall 6" wide and 1 1/2" thick. With brackets it would be 11" tall.

99 dur slt
amp labeled as follows
Chrysler Corp. 56043029AC 36670 Infinity ( Barcode 36651770)

Damn, that means the infinity amp is still too big! 13 inches in height and slightly wider too. I guess the OEM's don't want us to use these spaces with aftermarket gear!

Very hard to find a aftermarket 4 channel amp with these minimal dimensions!!!!

If your installing subs and have a factory HU you will need to tie the amp into a speaker wire via a 2 channel converter as you already know. Just tie into a line before it reaches the door. As for the 6.5" i dont see an issue using the old mounts, but if so you can readily get mounts per application at places such as crutch.

if anyone is interested in keeping a clean OEM look. Blaupunkt is the only decent 4 channel amp that is a perfect replacement for the OEM amp and will fit in the original location behind the passenger side kick panel. Some good user reviews that bought this amp is for a Dakota! So it should work for the Durangos as well!

http://www.amazon.com/Blaupunkt-THA-.../dp/B000VOEFJC

Now I gotta save up for this amp.
