Fuel pump?

 

we kinda did think that, but i know it is a whole big unit that costs several hundred dolllars and needs me to drop the tank, not that i am against doing that.... but usually, it's been my experience, a fuel pump, either works or doesnt work.... now i would look towards a fuel filter issue, but the durango has an internal filter, well, its got 2 filters inside the gas tank as part of the pump unit


also, would the fuel pump casue the fluctuations in the oil pressure gauge? and also cause the p0068?

i'm not against changing the fuel pump, just dont want to spend a couple hundred on something else, that isn't the solution

 

You can test the pump pressure by the testing port on the drivers side fuel rail. 54psi is new and I would pull it if it were under 50psi.

To answer your question...... There are many things that CAN through that code. There is a possibility. Oil pressure gauge dosen't fit. Replace the sending unit they are cheap or test it manually. Manually testing the oil pressure will give you piece of mind.

the guage you linked is only good to 10 psi -- no big though, i know what i'm looking for

does the durango also have a standalone fpr? or is it just regulated by the output of the pump?

 

The regulator is on the top of the pump.

Looking at the pump from the top there is a nipple/regulator turns down into the pump and then there is 3 large filters. It's all one unit.

you said replace the pump if it is under 54 psi? i was looking @ the FSM i have, and it says 50 psi is good @ operating temp?

is the spec 54psi? or is that a number you know of and use? i don't want to replace another part that isn't defective

 

I though it was standered and have always stood by that. I've seen problems at 48psi! I seriously doubt 50psi is enough!

 

Just checked the SM on it and it says 49.2 + 5psi at hot idle. Anything above 54.2psi is a bad regulator.

Still seen problems at 50psi!

 

ok, i will look @ it when i test it, is there a low spec? i will also keep in mind that you have seen problems at 50 psi
