I've been thinking about doing a homebrew CAI but there is some sort of computer module in the way. It sits right behind the pass headlight on the frame and blocks almost half of the access needed for the CAI to work. I'll take a pic of it to show youguys what I mean. There's also some kind of A/C dryer(?) right in front of the airbox inlet blocking the way as well.

4.7l K&Ns run straight to the side wall in the middle of the engine compartment.

5.9L K&Ns run diag out and the forward down to the area right behind the passenger headlight. The FIPK2 kit includes a replacement bracket to relocate the cruise control linkage in the way there.

Since you have a 4.7l, you don't run out to the headlight, You run straight across to the middle side of the fender. Search for pix and you will see. It's obvious.

Why do you need to run to the side and not the front like the 5.9s? Probably becuase of what you just discovered.

I see, that's where the stock intake is now. Maybe I'll just stick a k&n filter in the airbox and be done with it. Or an airhog... That big thing is the cc????? Dayum!!! I thought it would be located near the tb?...

Hydra, the first pic is from the airbox p.o.v. If you look closely, you'll see the windshield washer pumps on the upper left, the a/c lines to the right and the module right next to it further right.
Second pic, top view from in front of the pass headlight.
Third pic, space where the cai SHOULD be coming out from. See the nipple-like thing? Temp sensor.

 

Guess what? I had some time and I decided to install... a CAI!!!

Airbox connect. I used steel-wire reinforced plastic flex tubing with screw-type hose clamp to hold the tubing to the connector. Connector screwed into the airbox

Any comments? Yeah, I know the tubing is kinda thin at one point but I'm thinking venturi effect.
