Default CV Shaft

Replaced due to leaking outer boot.

While doing some trans work I noticed the left front axle boot split and leaking grease. I caught it early, because there wasn't much grease on the wheel well or suspension. Some coincidence as I just change the axle on this side for the same reason almost a year ago.

Looking at the pics, it appears to be the split at the same location.

sounds to me like somethings wrong there, you shouldnt be going through cv boots yearly like that . . .

What do you think would make the boot split like that, it's not touching anything.

its not touching anything while its up on the jack, but put the truck on the ground and look, if its not touching anything than you got a faulty boot on the first axle

That was the first thing I checked, I keep an eye on this one.

thats really weird idk what to tell you to look at specifically except that im not 100% sure your brake lines are run correctly

Watch the shock to ensure it is not touching. Other than that I think it was just a crappy boot.

notice the lack of grease build up on the brake line right after the first S curve.. At least wrap that portion in some tape.. could be nothing but worth babying a bit..
