going to be dropping the pan and changing fluid and filter. might as well adjust the bands since i am at 134k. are the specs the same as they were on the old torqueflights or is the spec different? any other tips for firmer shifts while i have the pan down? i'm also debating getting a shift kit to stick in the valve body as well but i know on the old 727's there were a few other tweaks you can do as far as adjustments go.

as far as shift kits go i have always used transgo for my torqueflights, i assume they are still the way to go on the newer dodge's? my 99 would have a 46re correct? is this the kit you guys are using?

if you want stiffer shifts the shift kit is for sure the way to go.. i hope your D has gotten some trans work done in the 134k if not I'm rather impressed.. know that if it hasnt had any work done to the trans then you might have to do a full rebuild and have the clutch plates swapped out.. (i think that's what they do, i'm guessing)

i dont know the full history on it...... but it does not have burnt fluid and it shifts very well for a stock unit in my opinion. i just am used to my truck that will spin the tires in every shift so i would like to stiffen the durango up a little bit. a chirping 2nd and stiff 3rd would make me happy in the D

There is no band adjustment in the 4.7L trans which you have a 45RFE in that. If I remember correctly you have a 2003, 4.7L, 2wd?
As for a shift kit, www.transgo.com is the way to go. The problem is you have 134k on that trans so it probably wouldn't hold up to it and you might do more harm than good.

keep in mind hydra the 45 behind the 4.7 is quite a bit better built than the 42 or 44 (maybe even the 46) that was behind the older units, its also the one they built up to use with the new hemi when it came out in 02, the 45 is also electronically controlled so no bands to adjust, they DO make a shift kit for it(as hydra said) which will help, but you can also train the TCM to learn your driving style and shift harder (its not perfect, and everytime someone else drives the truck, or you baby it a little bit it gets knocked down a little bit)

No!
I'm saying it might not be good to install a Transgo Shift Kit on a transmission that has seen a lot of ware.
As for adjustments, YES you want to adjust a 42RE, 44RE, and 46RE transmissions when you drop the pan and replace the filter and fluid (ATF+4 ONLY).
The 45RFE (or even the 545RFE) transmissions located behind the 4.7L motor has NO band adjusters so they are only a fluid (ATF+4 ONLY) and 2 filter design.
Never flush a Chrysler transmission!
