Well i guess i wore it out. The mechanic says it is sloppy and everytime i put it in 4x4 there is very bad metal grinding noise. I am wondering if it is possible to change myself or are crazy tool required and the 395.00 they want to change it the only option. Any websites to help or videos?
which driveshaft, front or rear? if rear, yes you can do it yourself if you have some mechanical abilities, just remember you have to mark it to keep it balanced correctly, and i think the joints at one end is probably what is actually bad, not the shaft itself
I doubt its the driveshaft. Only failure to occur is loosing a weight/bending/ or u-joints. I'd think the mech thinks its the either the bearing or differential or even the trans/transfer.

that does make more sense, but since he said driveshaft in his original post . . .
