Ok...first,rhillman,not sure if/how we can get it done but I'de buy that combo you have sitting there if you want to sell it, if it's a match to mine.I'm gonna check with hydra and master tech if the years are a match but from what I know it should be ok(from what I know I'm supposed to get an exact year match to mine but it may work as a spare)
@ grehmer,it is discouraging, unfortunately it's part of the process to them right. From what I've read you're following the correct path so I'de say you're doing what needs to be done. Obviously there's no guarantees though. I wish I could do as hillman and pull the bulbs but here in Mass they hook up to the dlc for inspections,I have no choice but fix it correct...I want it done right anyway.
So,I need to figure out how to upload a bunch of pics for a new thread.I took my module apart and soldered in a new relay and the fricken thing works!!!!! Not sure for how long but right now NO LIGHTS !!!! I gotta use imageshack right?

If you're looking for one then I can send some detailed pictures to you. I can include all the necessary numbers that are currently on the module and pump. I am sure we can find a way. I have no problem sending it to you through UPS and we can do the payment through PayPal or even through my aftermarket business via credit card. If you are interested, or think that it may be the answer, pm me so i can give you my number. If this part can help anyone it would probably do more justice installed rather than to collect dust in my attic. It's actually kind of funny you have the exact D that I do if it's 4x4, automatic, 5.9l, AWAL ABS, and missing the same center caps that took me 3 months to find!

I have a different engine,4.7, 2000 y\m, but the rest is the same. I'll check with some of the guys a little later today and see if it's something I can get away with.(I'm on lunch and leaving in a min).send me the number info anyway,I can at ttry to cross ref it and see what I can find out on my own beforehand...Pics maybe better to my personal email,I'll PM that to you later also. Payment wise whatever works,I don't care as long as it get's to you....talk later man TY

grehmer,I picked up another tip today from a Durango owner and wanted to pass it on.After all this we're working off you saying you have the same symptoms but no one asked to make sure...so assumed you have an ABS pump running on...Any lights etc etc? You got your module in for rebuid,I took mine apart..anyway,after I got it back in things were way better but not perfect.Talking with a friend(also owns a durango 1st gen) he did the same but when he ohmed out his front speed sensors he said they both read good but he didn't trust it. Pulled the wheels and went in and found corrosion at the sensor mounts was doing something to them so the ohm test was useless to him.I guess salt and debris can build up and actually move them and cause ground issues, sumpin along that anyway. He cleaned everything up and re-installed them and all was good.Says he's seen it before and done this repair a few times to client trucks also...I'm going in tomorrow to look at mine but from what I see right now I have the same....just passing a tip,not sure if it applies to your truck....

Thanks for the tip. My module and pump are on there way and I should have them put back in on Saturday and let you know the results. If I still have problems I will pull the front left sensor to see if it has the issues you have stated. BTW, I did not have an ABS light when the problem first occured, however it did come on Intermittently later. My Durango symptoms are as follows; when breaking at low speeds the brake pedal will start pulsating when I get about 3/4 ‘s of the way down then the left (driver side) front wheel will make a clicking noise as if the ABS was kicking in, on that wheel only. Pulled the tire off and saw no physical damage or anything out of the norm so I assumed a computer/electrical problem which the dealer confirmed. The car has no problem stopping, just the issue with the one front wheel. Also, as the original post states there is another noise (different from the loud clicking at the wheel) after I let off the brakes which I assume is the ABS pump disengaging.

engaging disengaging...those pumps are just plain fricken noisy....The intermittant light is what I and my friend had.Sometimes flashed,or came on when it was wet out, sometimes nothing at all...cleaning up around the front sensors was the fix for us..Also,theP/O of mine had the brakes done, front pass sensor replaced.I saw a dirt/dust build up on my fornt wheels. That's when I discovered the things in the front, mechanically, that needed work.Kind of finishing a half-assed brake job. Filing the caliper mounts smooth and greasing everything needed with never-seez(just my choice)..The dust on my sensors AND the corrosion was my fix.PLus they didn't clip the pass ft sensor wires in.I ohmed out good but failed a/c reading(ty for the tips hydra).....as mentioned, just passing what I learned throughout

Update on My problem.

My wife went ahead and bought a new car and I now have the Durango. Since I now drive it I pulled the fuse and everything is A-ok, just no ABS anymore. FYI, the Module rebuild and rear speed sensor replacement did not fix the problem. I did not change the front speed sensor so the problem may be in one of them but won't know because I don't care to spend the time and $$ replacing them at this point, plus those sensors seem hard to find at a fair price. Good luck to those with this same problem.

I went through the same process on my 99. Turned out to be the wheel hub going bad. Somehow in turn destroying the abs and calipers. I cant help but blame cheap brake pads for causing it. After all the blood sweat and tears, I gave it to my nephew and it is still going strong at 234k. Now I have an 01 with 120k dealling with the exact same issues. I thank you all for the excellent information you fellas help with! Sure wish I joined sooner!

I have a 98 Durango that does a weird groaning noise and pulsating pedal thing too and it's not rotors or calipers etc all near new. Sound continues after pedal release too. Can you check the ABS module?

Just a physical operation test/road test, other than that you'd need a dealer level scan tool, the DRB (or equiv) to test it properly. 1st, is your abs the noise you hear or its your noise always there, like a bad hub bearing or axle? Need a little more info to help
