Default New to forum with major durango malfunctions

My durango stalled on me while i was on the freeway, without warning. When attempting to restart it, the dash cluster would no function and the odometer read NO BUS. I lost all function of brakes, and power steering this made it extremly difficult to move out of the way for traffic and move to the side of the road (Very dangerous since i had my two children in the car).

Its a 1999 Durango. My fiance has replaced feul pump, cap and rotor, plugs, wires, crank sensor, and the PCM.

Now the car wont start. He can get it to start if he plays around with the frealy for the fuel pump and the shut off switch sometimes he can get it to come back so he can start it up. When he does get it running it runs beautifully. But we can not figure out what is wrong with the starting issue. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Only car our kids can fit in (my work car is a two door).

Swap the fuel pump relay with one of the same numbers (like for the horn or something) to ruel out a bad relay.

Default Relay

We purchased a new relay to rule that out and it still does the same thing.

It could be the harness (connection) at the fuel pump from corrosion or simply a fuel pump going out.

Default Any Ideas?

Okay im back with no resolution still. With the original computer we had, the truck started but stalled out, with the check engine code of idle air control. Occasionally it took awhile for it to start. With our replacement PCM that was purchased, the truck did not start with the NO BUS on the odometer, when i would finally get it to start, it run perfect. Like it was brand spankin new. Then the truck would not do anything at all. So i called the place up and got another computer sent to me. With the second replacement computer, the truck starts but stalls out again with teh same idle air control code. I am totally lost on what to do. Any help would be great. Only car I have. and am a mother of two young ones.

Replace the IAC then and reset the PCM.

Also it still sounds like a PCM issue. I have seen people go through a few before the companies get it right. I would try a new one again!

Default Iac

Hey there,

If your talking about the idle air control valve we replaced that. Im not a mechanic so if your talking about something else let me know. We replaced the IAC valve with the original computer. Do you think it could have gone bad again? and when we replaced it the first time, we cleared the engine code and it kept coming back on with the same code... not sure what is going on...
