My 98 Durango has developed an interior light issue the interior lights have stopped working i check all the lights i could get to and they were all good
so i checked the amps at the fuse box by the door and it was reading almost 40 amps on a 10 amp circuit does any one have any ideas before i dive in to the dash board this weekend
If the bulbs are good and fuse #13 has power on both sides of the fuse, Then I would remove a bulb and ck for power on the socket. If you have no power, then you could have a problem with the CTM or cluster.
With 40 amps running through there I am really thinking you have a short. Take a look at the electrical diagnosis and testing sticky at the top of the page and see about making a test light to find your short.
I have a similar (or maybe its the same) issue.
All the interior lights work, when you turn them on with the switches however, none go on when you open any of the doors.
Any ideas?
You gotta get on your back and look up under the dash at the backside of the fuse box.. For some reason they decided it would be a good idea to hide some fuses and stuff back there.

Turn the light *** like your are dimming the dash lights. There is a position past the dome lights on that turns them off even with the doors open.
