Cool Tire size question... ugh

Ok I have 2001 Dodge Durango 4x4 RT
I need new tires The tires I have on are NOT stock or the recommended size.

I consulted the manual and it said to check inside the drivers door.
The size on the sticker there said p235 75 15

When looking for tires I found that 275/60-17 was the recommended size??

OK, I want good mileage. I don't care about much else.

What are your recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

275/60/17 I just put on cooper discovery ht. Very quite with a great ride, way better than the goodyear triple treads. They work well on wet grass, snow, ice, and light mud well so far.. I have a 2000 durango r/t and im not going "MUDDIN" although it is tempting... Just my opinion. by the way $744.00 for all 4 mounted balanced and tax

you have an r/t you have 17 inch rims on the truck, so whatever you get will need to end be in xxx/xx/17 format, the 275/60/17 sounds familiar

Try www.TireRack.com for more options and opinions.

I have the standard 31x10.5x15 size and bought the Michelin LTX M/S. This transformed the ride from a hard truck to a more softer one, though it still is a truck. And they are great in ice and snow (I live in Minnesota!).

The General Grabber ATS have great ratings for price vs. performance. You may just want to check what is available in the size you need.

+1 on the Michelin's, I just replaced mine and am VERY happy with the ride quality, lack of noise, and handling of them. Unfortunately they 'aint exactly the cheapest tire out there but they are worth every penny IMHO.

I was able to get a better price from http://www.discounttiredirect.com
because the shipping was free. My local shop mounted & balanced them for me at a good price as well.

The tag on the door doesn't include the package that was offered on the truck. It only includes what is available on the standard package so concerting you have a R/T model you tire size is different, and that different size is what has been flashed into your PCM. If you put the incorrect size on the speedometer will be off.

Your R/T should have come with 275 60 r17's factory. You should replace them with the same size.

As for your next question (what kind)?

Well that is entirely up to your style of driving and conditions. Do you off road, Do you tow, do you get snow and ice, do you drive in a lot of hot temp's, is cost an issue?

The more you can answer the better we can direct you on what to buy. Just remember, there isn't many tires options out there in that particular size, but you can still get a good tire with good warranties.

I'm assuming ATX is somewhere in Texas? Then I'd recommend a tire for high heat, little bit of rain, and some sand or dirt. Yeah, go with 275/60/17s.

I Bought some Firestone Destination A/T tires. Mine are 245/70/16, but Im sure they would make them in your size. I like them alot and are a very attractive tire on my D.
