Default Transmission trouble

okay so heres the problem im having occasionally while im accelerating (usually on the highway to around 60) my automatic tranny shifts from 1 to 2 gear fine but itll sometimes get stuck shifting from 2 to 3 and in order to get it to shift i either have to backway off on the throttle and reaccelerate or floor it. i did some research and i found that the governor solenoid in the tranny might be the problem but i would like to see what some of you guys think or if its happened to someone before. help would be very appreciated.

If you floor it and it shifts to 3rd gear, you got bad issues with your transmission. First what engine do you have in your vehicle. I can see you have a '99 but that means you either have a 5.2 or 5.9 (with either 44re or 46re transmission).

We need this information before helping any further.

+1

Cable adjustment and it also could be a 3-4 shift solenoid as well as your trans could need adjustment or incorrect fluid.

I had the same problem with my 98 Durango. I bought one bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix and did an oil change on the tranny using it. Worked great.

I have a feeling getting new fluid in the transmission pan did more than the treatment did...

I second that. The transmission is much too crucial and expensive to be worrying about getting a bad batch of treatment or something. I'm just not willing to make a $2,500 mistake because the bottle said it would work.

I really get a kick out of that one they advertise on TV where they say it can take your ready to blow engine and turn in into a next to new running engine by pouring this stuff in the engine oil...
