5.9 Durango P0172 4.7 to 5.9 swap
I swapped a 4.7 with a 5.9 complete drivetrain. It runs great. I have an abs light and airbag light on, but I have figured that out and I need to reflash the PCM to match VIN # and mileage with ABS and Airbag module. I can go drive this thing with no problem until it is warm. It runs great and then loads up with fuel and kicks P0172. You can shut it off and start it right back and and runs great. I'm lost I drove it 10 miles that other day without a problem brought it home and the owner came to pick it up and then it started loading up. Any ideas. It still has 4.7 fuel pump I didn't know if when I reflash the VIN and mileage it might fix this problem. It has a full tune up new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, cam sensor, crank sensor. It sounds great when running until it loads and then spits an sputters. It was showing Bank 1 running rich but only has one oxygen sensor before the cat so I was trying to figure out how it tells bank one is running rich.

I do have the correct 5.9 ECM installed. I know the 4.7 will not work on a 5.9 . The ABS and Airbag computers are still installed off of the 4.7 and I read that with VIN#s not matching they will turn on the ABS and Airbag Light. I didn't know if I still needed to sync the fuel system with the timing since I'm running the 4.7 fuel pump.

it has been done before, but it is a LOT of work, and es you are correct about the VIN#s needing to match, i think they use the same fuel pump (seems to be pretty stupid to me to use 2 different fuel pumps in the same vehicle)
also there is NO ECM on these trucks, its a PCM, slight difference, but drives me nuts when people mix em up ECM is a FORD term
