Superchips tuner

Should have included that little tid-bit in my first post....about 2/3d's of the tank is 93..had 87 in before...I will dial it back to the 87 octane tune till the tank is out and make sure I get a full tank of 93 at the next fill up and try the 91 performance tune again...but even in the past after running 93 for a while my truck would still ping with the 91 performance tune on...and now I have a CAI on and modded exhaust...maybe that has something to do with....

I work with a guy that had the same problem with a Mustang. He had to add octane boost (Lucas) when running the 93 setting, otherwise it would ping.
Do you have access to full gasoline or is it 10% ethanol? The ethanol can cause problems with higher compression tuning (so I've been told anyway).
Another thing to consider... Does your tuner allow you to adjust the timing by one degree? That may help solve the pinging problem.
Lots of variables...

Make sure it's straight gasoline and high octane and not just regular grade with an octane booster because unless you're dumping a gallon of octane booster in, it's not going to make a difference.
When I had my Superchips tuner I was running my 5.9 with CAT back exhaust system and a CAI and ran straight 93 octane and had no problems what-so-ever.

samnbensdad, I am not sure about the gas I have been getting and if it has any ethanol....but I will look into it...I have the superchips 3715 tuner....in all of the turner menus, there is no option to manually adjust the timing...only to install the performance tune....87, 91, 91 with towing etc...unless there has been updates...but I have never updated my tuner before...like I said, for right now I am going to roll back to the 87 tune untill I run this tank out and then make sure I have a full tank of 93...then try the 91 performance tune again...I am running the stock t-stat..and really do not feel like messing with having to go with a cooler t-stat or whatever...

Whitewidow....yeah I do have an Airraid CAI I just installed yesterday and I have a Flowmaster 40 swapped in place of the stock muffler, otherwise still factory pipes...maybe it's just the combination of not quite having true 93 yet in my tank along with the CAI? I have seen updates with CAI tunes for some of these tuners but have not looked into that yet...
