Shrp, that sounds highly logical. But i dont know if this is the case. My reservoir only went dry now and it was full about a week ago i believe so.

In any case i think since my issue has been on going off an on for the past 4 months or so i think when i did the pressure test and hydrocarbon test i should've seen signs of a bad head gasket.

though, sometimes i wish it was something like head gasket that way i could just get it fixed and not have to worry about it.

I'm gonna keep looking. And poking around. eventually I'm gonna have to catch on to what it would be.

I just checked mine this morning. The radiator was full and the very bottom of the reservoir dip stick was wet. So I topped it off, took a full gallon, and will be checking it frequently.

i hope you only topped it off to the full line on the reservoir dipstick, any higher and the tank will overflow

yep, to the full line on the dipstick for me, dont know bout adukart. sure he did the same lol

got my rad cap for 20.03 bucks this morning before work. just got home. gonna put it on once the engine cools.

Also i noticed that when i do open up my bleeder valve a lot of coolant starts to spill down onto the ground/floor. i dont think it could spill that fast from the bleeder valve. any thoughts on that guys?

I just got out of my work clothes so i'm gonna go climb under the truck and look around. its weird. though it is coming close to directly under the bleeder so idk. Any thoughts guys?

if the engine is still warm the coolant is under pressure so it will bleed out of any opening, the bigger the opening the faster the drain.

Yeah I overfilled it just a little, but I'm not going to siphon out that little bit it is over. Didn't get a chance to drive it more than 50ft so I don't know how it will effect the cooling.

yeah same here, i went just a tad over. but not much so I'm not worrying. Well the new rad cap is on there. we'll see how she acts now. though i dont know how hard it is too tell when a rad cap is bad but my old one looked just fine to me. idk at least i can say its been changed.

I mentioned this earlier but my 87 monte seeps at the end tanks on the radiator. I can tell from the corrosion that I can see at the seams. It almost never leaves any trace of a leak on the ground. It has a couple of time over the three years I have owned the car but only a couple and they where only quarter sized. The worst part is a bought a parts car almost a year ago now with a perfectly good radiator and I still haven't swapped it just keep adding coolant every month or so but the monte is easier to fill than the your D or pretty much any newer car.

If I remember correctly the shroud for the fan pretty much hides the end tanks on the durango so you would not even be able to see it.

adu and josh, a little bit over wont be a problem, and will not affect cooling, overfilling the reservoir will just push the extra out the top of the tank as the system heats up and the fluid expands and fills the reservoir more
