Default HID's wont work

I bought new headlights with preinstalled hid low beams. They worked for 2 days fine and then on the second day they stopped. A week later the passenger side started working. The company that I bought them from said I needed a relay or a capacitor. I decided before I did that to switch the ballasts around. After doing that neither side works. I switched the ballasts back and still nothing. I just now made both the relay harness and capacitor and still nothing works at all.

What could be the problem how do I trouble shoot from here?

Thanks in advance,

Dustin

Default HID Problem - Capacitor

I had flicker issues on my 2011 3rd Gen. Went to my local mod shop and they sold me a capacitor for $20/per side. Fixed the flicker on my rig. Not for sure whats really going on with yours since you have a Gen 1 but I would call your local mod shop. Don't know any? Call your local Dodge dealer and ask them to refer you to a mod shop they deal with. Guys there will know how to fix it. Hope it works out!

Do you still have the factory bulbs? I would put them back in and see if they come on. If it does then the headlamp switch is okay. And I ask for your money back . I have seen a lot of problems with add on HID systems on the chrysler 300's.

I thought of it possibly being the switch so I bypassed it and still nothing. When I bypass it i can hear the relay click where as I can't without it bypassed but either way the lights don't come on.

Is there a way to test the bulbs or the ballast?

Also they don't use factory bulbs the new headlights use 9006 bulbs so I don't think I have any. When I called the company they said it would take about a month to test them and if I was wrong I'd have to pay for them. but they were adamant that it wasn't the HID's so I want to be as positive as possible before I call them back again.

always a good idea to add a relay for hids. most electrical systems wont handle the current for the ballast.

a capacitor? for what???...
...an usual component to add when installing hids

A capacitor is really common for HID's and its been recommended everywhere I've looked for advice. But it didn't help me much

I talked to the company today and they're exchanging the ballasts. They said its not likely to be the bulbs because the almost never go bad. They also said its probably a wiring issue.

What are the chances of the bulbs being bad? What issues could I have with the wiring that I havnt already addressed? Any thoughts?
