Default Transmission slipping last night! 45RFE - MasterTech

Okay so last night while going out to get some dinner my transmission decided to start slipping. It was happening while I was accelerating from about 10MPH and also when going from a complete stop. I believe my input/output sensors may be going bad as my transmission has also been doing this little 150-200RPM jump while cruising in O/D.

When my Trans does its little spike, if I accelerate hard the RPMs jump all the way up to about 3k-3.5k and then it will finally catch and it will almost jam into gear.

The only modifications that I've done that tie into the transmission is I did a 545RFE TCM swap and I did a TMR delete. There are no check engine lights at the moment. I was having a code that referenced the TCM not communicating with PCM, I believe it was P1698. I have since taken care of that problem by cleaning the contacts with contact cleaner.

I called my local Oreiley and they seem to think that the sensors I'm looking at are $80 each. WtF? If anyone could provide some insight it would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

-Joe

You could tell you if your clutches are ruined by smelling the dipstick. the fluid gets burnt, by the slipping clutch's.

I would shop around for the sensor if you have to replace them... i have always found rockauto.com the cheapest on most things...

I know this might sound like a dumb question but, are you sure the fluid level is where its suppost to be?? I have known of a few that had similar issues and found that the fluid was a bit low..

Yes, the fluid level was the very first thing I checked. Does anyone have P/N on the sensors? Last I knew they were the same things just different spots on the transmission.

I would undo the TMR mod first since it is one wire iirc from your thread on it and diagnose from there.

PM Sent.

Today I bought a new TPS and had Oreiley order two Transmission Speed Sensors (4799061AB). They come in tomorrow morning so tomorrow afternoon I will have all three installed. I guess I'll see where it gets me.

Okay, I replaced both transmission sensors and the TPS yesterday. As I was down there I noticed my pan had a wet corner. I checked the fluid and it was fine but now I wan't to have my trans pan gasket fixed. What should I get as far as service? They (Certified Transmission) have a basic pan off service to remove the fluid and change filters for $127.50 and then they said they have a pan off flush package. I told him I didn't want to to that. But he said they'd scan it for codes and see what its doing and we could go from there. I need input on this ASAP! Thanks in advance fellas! -Joe
