No Bus strikes again!! lol
Alright.. here goes...
2002 Durango sport 4.7
Recently had the "no bus" on the odometer while on vacation. After some quick google-ing on my phone, got it running long enough for the 6 hr drive back home (really starting to hate orlando! lol). I ended up disconnecting the battery and then re-connecting and the truck started fine. now that I am back home, this doesnt work anymore. I've tried disconnecting the PCM and cleaning the connectors, and disconnected the ckp, cmp, tsp, map, and gps sensors to eliminate them as possible grounds. The wiring to each of the listed sensors has no grounds, and even leaving those sensors disconnected and re-connecting everything else has no effect on the gauge cluster. (I've noticed when the gauges are dead, dont even bother trying to turn the engine, if the guages work, crank it up!) Next I wondered if it was a fuse or relay giving me grief... after poking, proding, testing and cussing... nothing noticable. So what are any other ideas for me to test? I'll list the run-down so far:
No Bus error
instument cluster is dead
disconnecting and reconnecting battery used to solve it temporarily (not anymore)
ckp sensor disconnected, no grounds
cmp "..."
tps "..."
map "..."
gps "..."
pcm is getting power
relays at least work when i tested them
all fuses are sat
connectors under dash are tight and secure

i dont see how the CTM could cause it to stall, however it does control most the electronics so it may control the starter signal from the ignition, but that would be a new function to me(iv never heard that one before i mean)
**update**
Ok, narrowing it down a lil...
When it happens, if i turn the key to the "on" position and press the connectors at the PCM, I hear all the relay's click on and can start it. Now the question is if its the PCM or just the wiring coming loose as I drive. I'm thinking of just replacing the PCM to eliminate that as a possibility, largly due to the fact that sometimes I cant start it in the mornings, even if I got it running the night prior and touched nothing since. Kinda hard to see wires coming loose with nothing moving.. right?!?
I've ruled out the CTM, due to still being able to crank the engine over with no problem, its just getting the engine to start and stay running.
Next question is: anyone see anything against this one?

the information listed is off, 4.7 and 5.2 l engines use different PCMs, 5.2l was not available in 2002 MY only 4.7 and 5.9 and 5.2 and 5.9 were both unavailable from 2004 - 2006 in these trucks, something does not add up about that ad i would not buy from them
Here's to hoping!!
Thanks for all the info so far, will post an update from their parking lot with results! Lol

Ok, decided against the new PCM last minute. I had an electrician buddy of mine take a quick look and he said its either a loose wire in the connector, or the pins in the connector not seating fully. So i dismantled the center connector as he mentioned thats where the problem was, and checked the wires. None of the wires seem loose. Anyone know which wire or wires to really look at in that connector that supply power to the PCM? I'll post pics. The pins look good, no dirt, no corrosion, same for the female side of the connector.
I ended up cleaning everything on the connector and the PCM, and put dielectric grease on it and re-assembled. Still has the problem.

I am not having the "no bus" issue, and I am having the occasional crank with no fire issue. I looked at the rest of the way the wires are wrapped together, and the only plug that is wrapped with what appears to be new electrical tape, is the one closest to the firewall on the PCM. I want to pull it off to look, but I cringe that someone did a hack job, and did it half a$$ed. I have cleaned every connector, dielectric greased EVERYTHING i can thing of, took the grounds off and took everything to bare metal, and used new screws for the grounds, so I could rule out corrosion issues...by the way..I love my dremel as well...
