Default 2001 Durango 4.7L issues

Hey all,

Sorry if this post seems to be one incoherent ramble but I'm a bit frazzled at the moment.

Been fighting with my '01 Durango now for what feels like forever.... Currently I am getting a P0208 after installing new (remanufactured) 4 hole fuel injectors and fresh spark plugs. Yesterday I finished installing the plugs and all the air cleaner/vacuum hoses that I removed to get at the injectors and the plugs. Now I KNOW my battery is fubar so I am waiting on the wife to bring the new one home as I type this...but yesterday when I started the beast up it seemed to be idling a bit rough but was NOT throwing any codes. I found I had a slight leak on a repaired heater line so I had to abandon work on her yesterday. Today I grabbed the needed hose and set to fill the coolant system, burp it and see if everything was kosher. Was a bit hard to start (again I know the battery is toast and was using my battery charger on boost to start) and it idled like crap. Next thing I know the CEL is on and throwing a P0208....While I wait for my battery, what else am I missing???? Can a bad battery be causing most of the issues? my connections to #8 injector look good, I didn't see any sketchy wiring when I replaced them...could the PCM be going out?
I know the new spark plugs are making a WORLD of difference as I was getting a TON of crap out of the exhaust pipe:

This was #8 cylinder's plug....most of them looked like this....Yes I know I should have changed them long before now, I picked the beast up with 230k on the odometer and it had been running smoothly...(still getting 14-16 mpg ) and I am finally physically able to work on cars again...

Any other suggestions? I am going to grab a noid light and check for flash this afternoon as well....

If the pcm turns out to actually be controlling the injector (noid lite), swap the injector with #6, and see if the code moves with it.

I replaced the battery last night and today I was able to get a noid light today from the O'Riley's loan a tool service and checked out #8 injector. It is flashing as it is supposed to. Not sure if it was "loosely" on there but I made sure it's on it now. THe damn rig still runs like crap and currently is NOT throwing any codes, but the damn thing will not idle at all...it's running roughly and you have to keep your foot on the gas to get it to run. I re-checked and reinstalled the TPS (new one to old one to new one) cleaned the IAC with carb cleaner and even sprayed a bit down the throttle body for grins. Nothing seems to be helping. At higher RPM's it sounds better...but its back to crap idle/won't stay running without your foot on the gas. I did replace a rotten vacuum line from the top of the throttle body and have tried the "spray carb cleaner around the cold engine" while running to see if there is a major leak...nada...any suggestions? I'm about at the end of my rope here....and I know I cannot do anything else on her until the major storm brakes....was fighting 38 deg weather with 20+ mph winds...so I'm a popsicle about now...

Thanks in advance...

Steve

Does it run like crap immediately? Or does it take a couple minutes, and then run like crap?

Snow's mostly gone, so I am going to check...from what my frazzled brain recalls, it ran "ok" at idle for a minute or so but after giving it throttle, it would not idle and ran like crap...going outside to check again and will report back...thanks for the help

Edit: '
Ok just went out and fired it up. Bit hard starting had to use the gas pedal and it will not idle. If I keep my foot on the gas, I can maintain about a 1k idle and it sounds rough like there is a slight miss but no miss fires show up on diag tool. Smells rich/exhaust originally I chalked that up to burning all the crap out of the cylinders and it sitting since late August.

Now where do I look?

Thanks again in advance.
Steve

How's fuel pressure?

If that's good, think I would start with a good throttle body cleaning.

I'm going to have to get a gauge and find out for sure. When I did the injectors, it seemed "fine" but with out hard numbers I'm just guessing. I will have to look up the throttle body cleaning...I did spray some carb cleaner into it and cleaned off the "butterfly" and the IAC (pulled it off and really cleaned it with carb cleaner and elbow grease). I had planned to use the aerosol sea-foam once I got it running better...think that would help or is there a better way of cleaning it??

***Edit*** I found the how to article on properly cleaning the throttle body. I will be doing that tomorrow if the weather holds for me...someone please sacrifice something to the snow/rain/wind gods to postpone the upcoming storm lol

Thanks,

Steve
