1999 Durango 5.9 Not Shifting into park
I heard about the recall and most topics I see about this don't seem to fully come to a conclusion besides "it has a recall take it in" just called two different dealers in my area and my truck has no open recalls so they won't do squat.
ORIGINAL PROBLEM: Gear arrow was misaligned from the gear indicators and the truck wont go into park, instead stays in reverse even though the indicator is in the park position. When I try to put the truck in the pack position
I Have to give it a little force over to park and I have to push it back towards the gauge cluster by hand with a little force, sometimes it'll slip out if you don't push it over towards park enough
WHAT I'VE DONE SO FAR: Adjusted the gear indicator adjustment screw under the kick panel, the arrow now lines up on all the gears in the interment cluster except park looks like its a bit smooshed towards reverse and adjusting wont fix it.
Could this be a linkage issue or a tranny issue? I saw some comments about something falling in the tranny? if anyone has a good description on how these shifters work and how to diagnose whats going on your help would be greatly appreciated.
I am willing to investigate this and take pictures along the way as well as pictures and details of the fix when I figure out the issue.

Figured it out, this little clip pops out if the side with a little work, I suggest.to go slow and take it easy with this it's not a race. You will break it if you force it, use a flat head screw driver to prey at two pry points at the sides of the adjuster while holding two clips with a needle nose pliers (you'll see em). You can access the adjuster eaisly through the driver side wheelwell. Though I went down to the shifter on the transmission to adjust the cable and the shifter lever didn't push down to park.... Time to drop the pan, wish I ordered the fluid with all my other parts :/ I'll be back at this project after I do the plenum plate.
Ohhh no the picture is blurry... I'll see if I can get another one when I come back to this. I hope this helps anyone trying to adjust their cable for now

I shot you a video.
Adjustment
1.Refer to illustrations 3.3 and 3.5
2. Place the shift lever in Park.
3. Locate the shift cable adjuster in the
engine compartment, below the master cylinder
and next to the steering shaft. Squeeze
the two tangs on the adjuster lock and disengage
the lock (see illustration).
4. Raise the vehicle and suppori it securely
on jackstands. Note: Ihe rear of the vehicle
must also be raised, so the driveshaft can be
turned in Step 7 (to verify that the transmission
is completely engaged in Park).
5.Working at the transmission end of the
cable, pry the cable end off the shift lever
(see illustration).
6.Be sure the shift lever on the transmission
is all the way to the rear, in the last
detent. This is the Park position.
7.Make sure the parking pawl in the transmission
is engaged by trying to rotate the
driveshaft. The driveshaft will not rotate if the
transmission is completely engaged in Par.k.
8.Connect the shift cable to the shift lever
on the transmission. lf necessary, adjust the
length of the cable casing to allow the cable
end to be centered on the lever (the cable
casing will move in-or-out, within the
adjuster).
9.Lower the vehicle.
10. With the parking brake firmly applied,
make sure the engine starts (don,t move the
shift lever from Park yet).
11. Push the cable adjuster lock back into
place until the locking iangs are engaged. 12 lf the linkage appears to be adjusted
properly, but the starter operates in positions
other than Park or Neutral, check ilre
ParklNeutral position switch.
