Default Need help again everyone

2001 dodge durango was not shifting into gear it was half way in between gears. Found a broken shift cable, replaced it, got it as close into adjustment, put it in gear in moves front and back but when u step on the gas the rpms go up and it takes a second to move. Im at a loss, spent taxes on this and been broke more that running already put 800 dollars in parts on it. But after you get it to take off, you can run about 5 mins then goes into neutral i think, shut the key off wait a couple minutes and itll go again. I should also say it has no codes. Not trying to be a sap but just found out i have cancer also, so really need transportation. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you

Different transmissions have different level check procedure.

When you said that you got the shift cable as close into adjustment, how close did it get? Could it be that the cable is not fully "locked in"? I snipped the adjustment section from the manual on the 46re for ya. Sounds like it might be a tad off and keeps popping into neutral...wouldn't hurt to check the adjustment again.
