Hi All. New to the forum here and thought I'd throw this out there. I'm currently on the hunt for a 2003 Durango and was wondering what advantages if any are there with the SLT+ over the SLT. What additionalbells and whistlesdo I get with the SLT+
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Mean! Appreciated!
I've only spoken to the dealer on the phone, and he's hoping to get this '03 from up-island into town this week. From what I can tell from the posts, stay away from the 4.7 and go 5.2 or 5.9. I'm not sure what this one has. If things pan out, I'll be riding higher soon.
Cheers.

Hi Fish:
I am sitting here looking at a sales brochure for the 03 Durango, and it lists five models for the 2003 model year:
Sport, SXT, SLT, SLT+ , and R/T The following items are listed for the SLT+ over and above the SLT:
*Bright Silver Metallic fascias, Lower bodyside protective mouldings, Running boards and wheel flares.
*Leather trimmed front bucket seats w/6 way power driver and passenger seats.
*New AM/FM stereo w/in dash 6 CD changer
*Dual heated power exterior mirrors
*Overhead convenience group
*8 Infinifty speakers
*Leather wrapped steering wheel with 6 audio controls
*Front floor mats
*Full time NV244 transfer case (I believe the full time case was standard only on the RT model. My 01SLT+ has the part time NV233 case)
However, the full time case appears to have been a $395 option for the SLT and SLT+.
BTW, begining with the 00 model year, the 5.2 engine was phased out and replaced by the 4.7 motor leaving the engine choices as 4.7 or 5.9 from that time forward. Being a 4.7 owner, I encourage you to take a hard look at it before you discount it. Although the 5.9 (360) provides a bit more power and torque, the 4.7 uses the newer ovehead cam technology and is a very dependable engine if cared for properly.
My research indicates that the 4.7 engine was first introduced in 99 via the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Unless you plan on towing or spending alot of time off road, IMO the 4.7 is the better choice.

I have an SLT with a few of those options.
*Leather trimmed front bucket seats w/6 way power driver and passenger seats.
*Leather wrapped steering wheel with 6 audio controls
*Front floor mats
I have an '00, maybe the options were different back then

Hey Guys, thanks for all your help so far. Very encouraging!
I spoke with the dealer today and he hopes to have the black '03 SLT+ in town by the weekend. It does have the 4.7 engine, leather, heated seats, dvd player, etc. Now I'm just stoked to see this thing.
Thanks for your help.

I agree with n8ech don't discount the 4.7. I had an 01 Ram with the 5.2 and just recently got an 02 Durango with the 4.7 From what I have seen the 4.7 seems more responsive than the 5.2 and the Durango feels quicker. I also have been getting around 17 mpg doing mostly highway driving. The best I got in the Ram was 15 (granted the Ram was a few hundred pounds heavier). I also just put a new magnaflow muffler on the Durango and it sounds better than any of the 4 exhaust set ups I had on the Ram. The 5.9 is definitely a beast of an engine but I wouldnt expect more than about 12 mpg with that. I had a friend with a 5.9 Durango and he averaged 10 - 12 mpg. Just my .02
