This is where i think this thread went wrong. If i'm not mistaken the original poster said something about name something you can do to a civic that you can't do to neon.
My simple reply was: Put 11psi on a stock bottom end and make over 300whp/228wtq. The numbers i am talking about are not out of reach. You can simply put a turbo kit on a 1.6l (B16a) and make that power. I'm not even talking about a 1.8l (B18) or a 2.0l (K20)
Still can't be done on a neon... I put 11psi on my stock bottom end and only could produce 219whp/244wtq and that was pushing the limits.
I am, in no way, arguing about these cars in stock form. I'm really not sure how you decided to make that the basis of your argument. Although i have seen stock hatched run mid 15's, which is not out of reach for a 1st gen but not easy to do.
As far as the SRT-4 engine, I will agree that it is a very respectable build. Given time it will be up there with some of the stronger record holders in the 4 cyl world. 4g63, sr20det, etc… Although this engine can not participate in this argument, since that engine is build for boost and should hold the pressures that is thrown at it.
For the record, I do post on the Honda forums… as well as the Supra, Mustang, Subaru, Saab, and many others for that matter. I like and respect anything that is fast even if it is not my beloved Mopar. We have different opinions… but facts are facts. Let’s just agree to disagree, rather than your childish name calling.

Toyota - 7 plants in the USA including the subaru facility in Indiana.
Hyundai - Alabama
Honda - Almost a million cars produced by US plants per year
Chrysler and GM continue to close downUS plants...
Ford -
Now who are you supporting, US manufacturers or the hard working blue collar USworkers that bust there *** in these plants?

Ford Motor Co. said Monday it plans to close 14 manufacturing plants in North America and cut between 25,000 to 30,000 jobs by 2012 as it tries to stem losses and adjust to its new, significantly lower market share.
any car can be fast, i like civics but i will not buy it, unless it will be my winter beater. i own a toyota tercel, not any tercel, every thing on that car is custom all by my slef, i beat civic and neons with my little 1.5L but i own a neon soch and im hooking that up cause i like it. But im more with imports cause im from puerto rico and its all about toyota and mazdas. i love dodge, but they brake down to easy, im not saying they suck or anything about that its a POS. but i hate when ppl say hondas are the best. one way it is but its really not. i wanna see a honda VS a 1000=HP DODGE VIPER or a 1000=HP TOYOTA SUPRA against a honda they wont have a chance, but i love any car that come into my hand that can me modded with engine parts. where i live theres only toyotas and hondas, im rebuilding my toyota motor, its stock 1.5L but if u can see what it can handle, i have a stage one racing cam that produces more than TRD provides and high performance head gasket, and a couple more add-ons. we have a toyota forum just with tercels and paseos doing he most craziest things with motor swaps just like this place, and to i see the same things about ppl disliking hondas or talking about them.

here is something for you "ricers"Take a basic 5 speed DOHC Neon (for this example, we will use an inexpensive, lighter weight non-RT, say a 1996 model). Add an HAHN bolt-on Stage II turbosystem, a set of slicks and a free flowing exhaust system. Now go to the drag strip and run 13.00 second quarter miles @ 105 MPH on 93-octane pump gas! Stock Internals!!The Hahn neon does10.55 @ 139 in the 1/4 mile! Yet still driveable to the track, all that needs to be done is put on slicks, add a few gallons of race gas and then ruin a few V8 racers' day. All that needs to be done then is just reinstall the street tires and drive it 60 miles back home. Lots of street prowling for unsuspecting victims goes on in between drag strip visits. Proof that if you want to go fast, you don't need a Honda or a huge budget to do it.
Go tohttp://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/neon/neon.htm and do some reading up before u think your "ricer" is the ****
