I had an 1981 Ford F-150 that was used as a parts runner at a local Ford dealer. The mechanics pulled the 302 and put a crank kit in it because of the knock. My father in law tried to tell them it was a cracked piston but they didn't listen. It still had the knock when I bought it. I drove it for two years before it finally let loose.
Anyway, if the rods and bearings look OK check the piston skirts and the cylinder wall for cracks. Also check crank endplay, just a thought.

i took the motor all apart earlier and all the bearings looked good.....the side skirt on the #1 piston is all torn to ****....along with the cylinder wall......2,3, and 4 dont look bad at all besides the middle ring in #4 has no gap and is locked in the ring groove.....#1 was just horrible....especially for only have 259 miles on it....
i have no idea what would of caused it and no idea what im gonna do now[&:]

You honestly wouldn't want to go beat a fresh engine after a new rebuild, It needs at least 1000-1500 miles to break everything in before you can go drive it like you stole it
