Default project thread

instead of posting a new thread everytime i mod my car, im gonna just update this post with my progress. everyone knows weekends are your best friend when modding a daily driver. as of right now i only work odd jobs as a computer tech, so money comes here and there. as of right now he sits as:

1999 DOHC MTX
Deep Amethyst Coupe

223k on the stock bottom end
223k on the stock clutch and trans
223k on the stock suspension
80k ona stockhead from another car

ATX Throttle body
Mopar Performance PCM
Custom Cold Air Intake
Sraight Piped

Aftermarket lights (everywhere)
Hood emblem from an 04 SRT-4
Cross-drilled and slotted rotors
Front Strut Tower Bar
White Face Gauges
Custom interior kit
Custom stereo

The bad :

racing stripe
needs a new exhaust
trunk floods in the rain
accessory belt missing because the "square" where you put tension on the belt was rounded out
by the idiot that worked on it last. it squeeled for 1k miles before it flew off.
needs new paint on the hood and bumper - rust spots on the hood

Plans:

New exhaust is first. keep the car n/a and boost power where I can. drop it on 17's and have the paint done.

Default new valve cover (pics)

update :removed that siren. wiring looked bad.

on that note ...trying to start replacing things inside the engine bay while cleaning it up a little bit. My valve cover was the first step. It's off an eagle talon and was $20 at the junkyard. I spent another three on some sandpaper and $5.09 on some engine paint. Scuffed it, painted it, and sanded the paint off of the letters and numbers. better than paying about $100 for the ones off of ebay... new gasket set accompanied it for a grand total of around $50.

hey thanks. im really pleased with it. i had my home-made cat delete fixed. a muffler shop close to my house actually welded a straight pipe on the car. now i just need to get my magnaflow muffler and tips this weekend hopefully.

drop it on 17's and have the paint done.
Those 17's will hurt your acceleration.

i wanted to pull out of corners better. i know stiffer suspension and sway bars will help. im one of those who drools over srt-4 wheels on a first gen. im not so much a straight-line kinda guy. then again i mean how much bigger footprint will 17's give over say a light weight set of 15's.... its a hard balance to figure out. make the car look like i want it to - and drive like i want it to.

Pulling out of the corners with 15" rims and 205/50-15 is what the Auto-Xs and SCCA racers use!
