Default What ECU?

I have a '95 neon with a SOHC that has a bad ecu. I have heard this is a common problem with the SOHC's. My question is what ecu's can I use? A new one will cost around $200, so I'm just checking my options, asI see many on ebay for under $50. Thanks for any help.

due to it being a 95, the only one that will work in your car is one from another 95 sohc...

I did someresearch on the SOHC and I have seen many have a problem with the ecu overheating. My car runs perfect for about 20-30 minutes or so before it gets up to temperature and it just shuts off. Then I can wait for an hour or so when it is cool and it will crank right up. It also drivesa little longer on cooler days. Does this sound like the ECU?

Also sounds like the 95 fuel pump problem. They tend to overheat and fail. Have you noticed how much gas you have when this occurs? Less than half a tank?

It happens no matter what the gas level, full or low. It is EVERY time i drive, not just some times. I can take the car down the road and back for a few minutes and no problem, just after driving a while (20-25 minutes).

Do you have any codes? Have you checked the ASD/Fuel pump relay?

There are no codes, and if it was a relay it shouldnt work for 20-30 minutes and then stop working (at least not consistently).

So will any '95 automatic ECU work for me? I know if you buy one new at a parts store, you have to get the number off of the stock one and they order the ECU that works for it.

The relays can overheat as well, but it sounds like your sold on the ECU. I wouldn't purchase a new one. Better to look for a used one. You will need a SOHC that goes with your tranny.
