Hey guys I own a 98 dodge neon r/t and I am trying to find out if I have to look for aftermarket parts for a dodge or mitsubishi. The reason I ask is the 98 r/t has a mitusubishi engine, and i am confused on what parts to buy. I am looking to get new headers and an interooler, but I don't want to go buy a part for a 98 dodge neon and the part I really needed was a part for a mitubishi. Sorry if this all seems like a stupid question, but I want to make sure I am buying the right parts.

 

First of all, you do not have a mitsubishi engine. What do you need an intercooler for, if you don't have turbo.

No Neons ever had Mitsubishi engines, I've contacted Dodge and confirmed this. People fight me over it all the time.

 

Your engine was built at the Trenton, MI Engine plant by UAW Chrysler division employees. All neon engines were made there. Block, head, crank, rods, pistons, and cams, I'm positive were machined there. Other parts, like water pump, may have been made there along with it's assembly.

 

the main engine components of the neon engines were assembled in the u.s......but everything for it was made by mitsubishi....most mid-90's and up 4 cylinder dodges are, especially the 2000 and up stratus, virtually everything on the car has a mitsubishi sticker on it.....you will need to by parts for the neon though, not a mitsubishi

 

^^^ To help clarify, the neon engine was not designed by Mitsubishi. The DOHC was actually designed by Lamborghini and Chrysler (I'm not joking). This was before the joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi took the neon engine and reversed the head for the N/A eclipse. Mitsubishi makes the parts, but did not help with the design.

 

well thanks guys for clearing that up.....I guess. The reason I say a mitsubishi engine is under the hood the engine lable is a mitsubishi label. Either way if I just need to buy neon parts then the question was answered, and Thank you guys for the info.

 

What are you looking to do to the car?

 

well I think I am going to start with the little stuff to get my car turbocharged. Intercooler, better motormounts, just the small stuff first.

 

You planing on upgrading the internals any?
