Tired of Neon Drivers bashing on Hondas.
wow, i assume your talking 1st Gen only, but my neon is slow in comparison to many other SRTs out there, and still I can drive circles around LIGHTLY modded SIs all day. But im not going ot go on some crazy rant. Im just going to say think before you speak

And the new Si is more comparable to the SRT-4, than the R/T...

Well, with the exception of the '06 Si's here is how the older and more comparable Si's stack up against the Neon:
Well, with the exception of the '06 Si's here is how the older and more comparable Si's stack up against the Neon:
2006 Honda Civic SI 7.2 15.1 (Edmonds)
1998 Dodge Neon R/T 7.5 15.9
2001 Dodge Neon R/T 7.6 16.1
2004 Dodge SRT-4 5.3 13.9
i know im bout 2 weeks late but i have to say i cant stand the honda dumb asses they put on a intake and a metal noise maker and there the ****...i keep up with mustang gt's with a strip out neon i went to the grain elevator to get weight just over 1450 lbs dyno tested at 261 hp 233 to the wheelz with 12 psi boost
I cannot agree more with neon is just a cheap car. Accept this. The car is not build to race and you could make any car fast if you put the money in. I don't care how fast it go, but it is just cheap. I buy my 98 neon becasue it is cheap. And this is the most trouble car I EVER HAD. I brought it in 2002 with only 32000 miles on it for 6000. I think I am safe because of the low miles, WRONG.... My AC quit the first summer I had the car and have to re-charge every year.(every month starting this summer) The rear main engine seal is leaking the second year...have to replace that for 800. The kick back lever is rusted......and the whole transmition is acting up now....I replace the CV boot (inner and outer) twice. The car is burning oil now. everything I do the oil change, only half of the oil is in there and I am sure there is no leak. The most funny thing is all the gauges is not working 50% of the time. I could be driving fine this minutes, and the next all my gauges just quit. I have no idea how fast I am going most of the time. And these are all on top of the regular maintance that I do. So, you tell me Neon is the same as a Honda? Give me a break.... As I said, It mind run with or even faster than an Civic Si, but how many parts would fall apart after the run? Turbo for Neon? The brake don't have good stopping power when it is stock, good luck if you put a Turbo in. I need my car to be reliable, this is the most I ask for. And neon fail to deliever that. I believe that Neon could run till 200,000, but just how much work have to get done? My friend have a stock Civic and it had 170,000 miles on it and it did not give him as much problem as I had with my Neon. So it is a CHEAPER car for a reason. The Neon parts mind be cheaper but guess what, if you have to change it twice as often, what is the point. Honda just build a better car. Admit that. Did I mention I hate Honda too? I never own a Honda and I guess I never will, I buy a new Scion Tc in 2005 for my wife. I just pay $17,000 for it and it worth every penny. A Neon to that standard.........It could be a long road ahead. And the main problem, they never build on what it had success with. As someone mention, Honda have 25 years in the Civic, and Dodge stop Neon in the 10 year, These are the killing part. If they build the 4th or the 5th gen. It should be a lot better, but it will never get there.
me right good either when me be complaining, so dont not feel bad
hey it all depends on how you drive your car and how it was treated in the past.....my 98 r/t which i recently found out was used for autocross before i got it, hasnt given me any problems that werent self inflicted and i drive the hell outta it.....i think the only work ive done to it was put a new radiator in.....and the car has 143,000 miles on it now.....but then again, i guess that is alot of work
honda may have 25 years in the civic and it may be a reliable dependable car, but was it that way when the first one came out? or did it take a few years to get it like that?
i know the neon would never get to higher generations, and im sooo disappointed
