mine will be fast one day....not that fast, but pretty fast.....then again, since neons cant be fast, i guess that it wont be.....hopefully i will atleast be able to keep up with a power-wheels

The Integra GS-R, same story. No way in Gods green Earth will you pass one. You might have a 95 that may keep up with one untill 3rd gear but unless you turbo the thing it will always pass you.
The Neon is not a more capable car than any of these. I am telling you right now, any punk kid who thinks they can take a Neon and go kill every Si they see is retarded, just as stupid as those of us who think the more primer you put on a teg the faster it is, or hood pins add 80 hp. If you wanna have a fast car heres my advice. Save your damn money. No car has ever caused me more headaces and time stuck at home stranded than my Neon.

Really......"no stock Neon on the face of the friggen earth". Looks a little different to me and this isn't even including the lighter and quicker ACR's.
So in your mind every Honda/Acura is more capable than any Neon, how do you figure that? The Neon is a great base and responds well to mods, often far more so than Hondas/Acuras.
BTW: That '04 SRT-4 your about to take posession of is a Neon that stock vs. stock beats EVERY Honda and Acura made, except for most of the NSX's which are over 3 times the SRT-4's price.

It all boils down to personal preference. I could take 10k and build a 10 sec civic right now but for me, its no fun falling in line with 100,000 other people. Import parts are more common. I always make a joke with my friend and say that I could walk through each section of walmart and leave out with a fully built honda doing 11 sec in the 1/4. Its all good fun. Anything can be made to go fast so long as you have the money and knowledge. I used get the same type of posts on a stratus forum from guys that just havent put the effort needed to getthe car where thay want it. I laugh at things like this now.
I say settle it on the track, someone build a neon, he builds a honda and we racing it out. until the engines fall out of the car and theres nomore rubber on the rims,lol.

i just re-read that...and the SOHC even has more torque...
which accoring to the .org site it has 129lbs-ft at 5000RPMs...
And the GS-R has 128 lb/fts of torque @ 6200 rpm whereas the DOHC neon has 133 ft/lbs of torque @ 5600 RPM...so which one gets moving a bit quicker????

anyway, i get that alot, but as guys said here, u can make any car go fast, but guys u missed an important point here, a neon is way cheeper than a honda, i mean u cant compare the two like this, in 96 the neon had 17 more horse power, and about 20 lb of torque, but again a honda is around 150 kg lighter, and if u go on head-on-head collision, the hondas driver will propably be killed by the neon, and a neon has a lower center of gravity, so with right choice of tyre size and reducing that big standard understeer the company uses on the stock neon, u get a pritty damn fun to drive car, unlike the honda, nevertheless, a honda is more reliable, but again,as i said, u cant compare the two just like that, coz a BMW 320i will diffenetly be much better than both !

^^The reliable part comes from over 30 years of production on the Honda Civic. The neon was only 10 years into production when they called it quits. The 2005 neons don't have anywhere near the problems the 95's did.

Lol, the original poster is surely an asshat. The other day I took my buddy's 96 Mustang GT with full borla exhaust off the line until 3rd gear 3/3 times, obviously after third the fact that he has more than twice the displacement as me will catch up, but jesus kid, are you serious about all your honda praising? You know how many Hondas, Nissans, Mazda's and Toyota's I've smoked? All I have is a cone filter man, get real.

ok...the whole mustang thing is kinda iffy to me.....but hondas are good reliable cars.....however, i wouldnt be cought dead driving one.....i cant stand them, or the "i can smoke you" statement kids seem to think they can make with them.....lets just all face the facts......hondas suck
