At 60 mph...how many RMP's are you guys with SOHC (trans ratio 3:55) turning in 3rd gear (5-speed trans), vs. the DOHC motor (different trans ratio)? Oh, also inlcude your wheel size? Thanks!!
dohc 5 spd is a 3.94 final, mine in 3rd gear - recalcuated speed with 195/45/14" at 75 mph its crankin right in the range of 6800
if your trying to figure somethin out for tire size or whatever use this http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html
theres only about a 500 RPM difference between the 2 transmissions, it will vary in different gears, but thats a general idea, the DOHC trans of course will make a higher RPM for the same speed from the lower 3.94 ratio over the SOHC 3.55
I'm trying to put together a car for next year (cirle dirt track), and I know they are running a little over 60 at the end of the straights. So....I was thinking if I run in 3rd and can hit about 6800-7000 @ 65mph, I wouldn't have to shift!?????? Right now we have a neon that slams the think into 2nd before the corneres, and shifts into 3 halfway down the staights, which HAS to kill speed??????
