Default saturday night...

saturday night is a big night

all of my friends are goin out to our spray painted quarter mile out in the boonies

let's see...

racing for sure is...
ZX5 (it's the only automatic there, but it has around 170hp)
Mini (i already beat it two weeks ago)
probably a Civic EX
and my buddy in his DOHC

tahts all i know for sure

i know there will be a WRX
and another Civic Si

the WRX will rap all of us
and my friend in the Si doesnt race because of his girlfriend

is there anything i can do to get some more power tomorrow?

basically the big race is me and the ZX5

i dont think it would be a good idea to run a dohc pcm.....some cars are interchangableand add power...like pontiac for instance, if someone has a grand prix then go out and get a pcm from a grand prix gt or gtp, same with the G6....but they have more interchangable motors then going from sohc to dohc......so i am pretty sure the cam would make a difference......

Yeah! Get a CAI on there pronto. I noticed such a dramatic difference in throttle response. It might not shave off time on your 1/4 but it will definitely give you a bit more power.

Also, the real big thing with racing, it experience. You can beat someone just by practicing. I know someone that beat an SRT-4 with his 14 second neon even though the SRT-4 runs 13's just cause the guy with the srt-4 was a terrible driver when it came to getting it in gears.

Getting off the line quickly is another big thing. If you can get your tires to just chirp and go. you will take off. None of this burn the tires cause it looks cool and everyone will think your car is badass. I'm not super experienced with racing but i've been to the track a fair share of times. One thing that i've practiced over and over, is preloading. Its where you almost engage your clutch, around 3k or 3.5k rpm and then when its go time you don't dump your clutch but you ease out really quick. it will get you off the line like a bolt!

yeah first is the main gear you need to ease into when racing...the rest are just slam-n-go.....

what you need to do, if you car is reliable....unless you have high miles.....is go out and bounce it off the rev limiter a few times while watching the tach(if you have one) if not then listen to the motor......find the spot right before the limiter kicks in......that is a great shifting point when racing......gives you a little extra jump

You can run the DOHC on a SOHC but will be required to run 91 or higher octane to see any benefits from the advanced timing. It may/will cause your car to run a little rich, but might be worth trying for tonight.

yea i was just gonna has my buddy with the DOHC to give me his ecu cause hes going to get a Mopar one for his

and eventually id get the Mopar one myself

and tonight went pretty well

the 170hp 2.3L DOHC Focus and i are pretty much teh same
i won the first time
he got the launch the second then third gear i pulled on him and i was pulling so fast i thought he was slowing down so i slowed down and 20 feet later was the big white line
then the last time we were even
it was pretty tight!
especially since i have an almost blown head gasket! hahahah

in a few weeks i'm porting hte intake manifold
making the CAI (and i'm gonna put a little filter on the bypass)
and then hopefully my dad gets me the pacesetter header for my birthday

so by the end of october i'll have a lot more power!

i'm excited...

thanks for all the help!

and by the way...

what do you mean by it will run to rich?
with the DOHC ECU mess up my engine?
