Default My 98 Plymouth Neon

Recently got my first car, a 98 plymouth neon, aounr 100,000 miles on it grabbed it for 1800. Starting to get into street racing and am looking into eventually doing a full inner rebuild. How far would i get with a ATX SOHC engine, should i look into a swap? bigger engine?
thought about saving up for a SRT4 engine or maybe just a DOHC MTX

Probly gunna get a cold air intake off ebay but dont wanna put too much money into an engine with limited potential

if you get it done right, you can get alot out of the SOHC. i have a fully rebuilt(top and bottom end) with stage 3 turbo and should be running mid 12s in the quarter on 15psi..when i put it in. so it all depends how deep your pockets are and what you want to do. i have close to $3000 invested in the engine so far not including tranny upgrades. thats all im waiting for...

An MTX swap would do wonders for you. If you go the SRT-4 engine route, be prepared to do alot of research and rewiring. It can and has been done before.

and i wouldn't waste your money on the intakes off ebay...make your own or find an iceman...their pretty easy to make... i made mine in like 20 min. plus 10 min. fabing and it was done... but i would change out the atx and put in the mtx anyways even if u dont go the SRT route.

pick up an MTX from the junkyard for probably like 200 and a DOHC would be a little more... but frankly i would stick with the SOHC and just mod it... its a little cheaper to mod and such

yea..then you wont have to worry about any electrical re-wiring and all that other bullcrap...the SOHC may not be as good as the DOHC....but you can still get good HP out of it with the right mods.

the only mods that really cost more for a dohc is performance cams and cam gears...being there are 2

should cost more then $1,000.00 to do the swap
