Just bought a neon!
Hello all, I just bought a 95 neon for my daily driver and have some basic questions. It's a 4 door with auto tranny and 105,XXX miles on it. First, how can i tell if it's a SOHC or DOHC? i've glanced over the enigine, but haven't been able to tell. How long do these engines last? I'm planning to change spark plugs, which do you recommend? The car is throwing out 3 codes:
P0134- No activity detected in O2 sensor circuit.
P0113- High input in intake air temperature sensor.
P0135- High voltage in O2 sensor circuit.
What do I need to doto fix these codes?
any help is greatly appreciated.

for the SOHC or DOHC, either look at the muffler if it has 1 tail pipe then its a SOHC but if it has 2 then its a DOHC but that only works on if it hasn't been replaced....then in the engine bay you can tell from the cams (passenger side) if you see just 1 small hump then its a SOHC but if its a wider top then its a DOHC...also if its a DOHC then you should have a bulge in the hood on the passenger side...and if you understood any of that then i applaud you lol

ORIGINAL: DOHCgarrett t3
open the hood and look at the engine if it has an aluminum intake it will be a DOCH plastic for a SOHC

and i have been seeing alot of 95 sohc's with the bulge hood that the dohc's come with.....
i just picked up a 95 sport coupe last nite that was originally a sohc with the bulge hood

Check the 8th digit in the vin#, C=SOHC, Y=DOHC...simple as that!
With ~100,000 miles on the engine, get ready to change out the water pump, tensioner pulley and timing belt. These should all be changed at the same time every 100,000 miles.
Check the wiring to your O2 sensors and make sure they aren't frayed or anything like that.
