id sugest checking in this order, which isa mix between most likely and easiest to do:
check for vacuum leak (if this is the issue, it will be big)
clean the TBI with that spray stuff
check O2 sensor. (Haines has isntructions. But basically, put positive voltmeter probe on green/black, negative on a cleanground. Itshould read steadily between.1 to.2 volts runningcold. after a couple of minutes when the thermostat kicks in at temperature, you should start to read fluctuation between .1 and .9 volts. if this doesnt happen after 3-4 minutes, shes fried)
check egr solenoid (Haines again. if it is dumping to much exhaust, you stall, the ECU sees errorand compensates, truck goes back on. thats my theory anyhow)
ignition control module (maybe, i dont know how to check)
and if your really unlucky, ECU. good luck with that.
oh yea, are you getting an engine code?
ps. you havent got AC onhave you?

code 37 is: "Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit. An open or shorted condition detected in the torque convert part throttle unlock solenoid circuit"
im no pro on transmissions. frankly they scare me. Hopefully you havent been putting Dextron in that badboy? Ive heard of the olddodgeminivans with the a500 trans (similar to ours) having an issue with the the PTU (part throttle unlock) solenoid. that badboy is what the truck'scomputer (EngineControlUnit) "talks" with to engage or disengage the torque converter. Can this be the source of your stalling? Maybe. call and get a price on the PTUit before you rush to replace. maybe its worth checking all the other stuff first.
so basically, youve either got the actual TC failing, or the signals are all botched due to the solenoid. naturally, the soloenoid (its bascially a switch) is cheaper than a whoel new tranny or rebuild or watever. good luck
