Default What Rear Differential Do I Have?

Replacing the gear oil in my 2000, 2500, 5.9 gasser.
Build sheet shows only:
4.10 Rear Axle Ratio
200MM Rear Axle
Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle

AutoZone shows multiple 10-bolt gaskets, for different models of both Dana and Spicer differentials.

How can I find out what I have??

Should be a nice Dana 60 with a limited slip unit in your 2000 Ram 2500.. I'm assuming that you have an automatic transmission, correct? Can you provide a photo of the cover on the rear axle in this thread?

Looks like a Dana 60 to me. To be absolutely sure, what's the part number on the tag bolted onto the left side of the cover? It should also list the factory installed gear ratio, too.

My 2001 2500 V8 has a D60 in the rear which I had apart three times IIRC. From the factory there is no gasket just "Mopar Silicone Rubber Sealant" and red RTV works just fine.

Cleaned up the tag with some fine emery cloth. I recognize the "4 10" as the gear ratio, that's about it...

The rest of it is essentially just a 'bill of materials' number, indicating what Dana put into the axle when it was built. At one time, they had a decoder on their site, that you could feed that number to, and it would tell you all sorts of stuff about your axle, as it shipped from the factory.

So consensus is it's a Dana 60?
I want to order this gasket, probably more "forgiving" than using the felt/RTV...

34 bucks for a gasket??? That you don't actually need????

I just run a bead of RTV, let it skin over for 10 minutes or so, bolt on the cover, give it an hour or so to set, then fill with fluid. No leaks.

I'm a bit ****, myself. I use a gasket with my Dana 60s, but I find them much cheaper on eBay or other sources.. I try to keep them on hand before I need one.

That tag should have a Mopar part number on it for the axle, along with the gear ratio in it, but if you can't read it, you can't read it. From all appearances, it looks and smells like a Dana 60.
