that is pretty good for a 4x4. when you rebuilt it did you use the stock cam or did you use something like an RV cam? i don't think you would get any better mileage unless your truck was 2wd.

my 81 is getting about 9mpg in town and 13 on the highway. definitely need to get those numbers to go up. think i might need to lean out the rear barrels on the carb.

I drove very conservatively this week, going to school now so I have to. Averaged 14 with the a/c on all the time, never went over 2500 rpm.

I have a dodge D200 w/ a 440 and the mileage seems to be dropping.A couple months ago I was getting about 14-15 a gallon on the freeway but I am now getting about 9-10.What is the average mpg for a truck with this size engine?I have looked all over the internet and I can not find a good answer anywhere.

I averaged 15 on my last fill up. That's after cleaning the injectors and running some seafoam though the top end of the engine. A/C on all the time too. If my converter would lock around 45 like it used to, instead of 55-60 like it does now, I'd be around 16 I think.

I replied to a specific post, but it didn't put my post where that person's post was?...
