Ok so I just spoke with Mike at mlr. Hes gonna put together a quote but its looking like 6500 to 8000 for a 360 or stroker being at the higher end. More money than Id like to spend but not as much as some and he seems like a good guy. 6-8 weeks to get it if parts are available. Would get edlebrock heads and an F1 intake for multiport FI (which I just learned I have and not TBI). Im leaning towards a stroker now lol. Looking at 450 hp and 500 tq

My biggest questions now are what do I need to do about my fuel injection system. I dont need to redo it all but what am I going to need to replace. Has anyone done a similar swap with FI and not a carb.

How would my current auto trans stand up to this power?

The easiest way to keep fuel injection is use the FAST EZ EFI for port fuel injection. There are other ways but they are mostly DIY.

I've never cared for the Holley units and the MSD unit is really to new to tell.

The MSD is a Throttle body unit not a port fuel injection type.

If you want to keep the multiport FI you just need the FAST EZ for multi-port retro fits and a new throttle body to fit the new 4bbl intake.

After skimming, here's what I have to say. Dropping an NV4500 is really easy. Dry it weighs about 190 lbs. Remove the driveshafts, pull the tcase/linkage (90-100 lbs dry, it can be done with no jack) put a jack under the tranny, drop the crossmember, pull the shifter off from inside the cab, drop the tranny. I bet I could come over and have it out in 2 1/2 hours. Heck. If you wanna do it on a weekend hit me up and I will come up and help you spin the wrenches.

These 1st gens are so simple the swap in should be easy stuff. I would see if I couldn't just swap the whole wiring harnesses around. The crossmembers should just be a bolt in swap I would think, so mounting it all up should be a pretty straightforward thing. The only hiccup I can think of is your axles being bigger.

That would be awesome if you could help. Itd be nice to have someone help who has actually done it, and I wouldnt mind seeing your 1st gen either haha. I dont plan on doing it til june. Im going camping/wheeling with PNW4x4s memorial day weekend (which you or anyone in the area is more than welcome to come, just ask for details) and Id rather wheel with my auto at least until I get used to a manual.
