Distributor replaced, needs tuned after?- 1990 W150
just Replaced the distributor on my truck
Got the truck running but need to tune it before I can drive it? When I started it up is idled for about five minutes but every 15-20 seconds the engine sounds like it is revving at the end of the rev it will sputter for about 5 seconds. Can’t find anything on it online. Maybe I didn’t search the right thing. Looking for ideas
Is fuel injected

You didn't get it on the exhaust rather than compression stroke did you? Pull the plugs and use a wooden dowel rod to find when the #1 piston is at the top of the stroke. When it's TDC, check your rotor. If it isn't spot on, move it until it is. Replace everything and try to start it up. If it starts, great. Time it and go on. If it doesn't, pull the distributor and rotate it 180 degrees. I'll bet it starts then.

If fuel sync is 180 off, the engine may still run, but, if timing is 180 off, it will backfire, and make all sorts of rude noises. You are firing the plugs with valves open.

Start tracing wires. Once you're sure the plug wires are at the right location and the distributor is right, you probably have a wire unhooked somewhere. I helped work on a car once where it had been converted and wouldn't start. I had the owner try to start it while I jiggled wires. I had checked everything with a volt/ohm meter and test light. It turned out to be a bad connection on the power side of the ballast resistor. The resistor was good, the connector was loose. When I'd press a test lead on it, it made contact. Less than 5 minutes and a new plug and it was going. I'm not saying that's what you have, but it may be something simple like that.
