If it was one of the cheap parts-store brands, might be time for a new one..... Don't forget to clear codes after you install it.

I cranked it up this morning and it is running perfect. I have a question before I put the new pick-up coil on. Can it run perfect sometimes for say 50 miles and then stall out and die and not start back up and then run perfect again with a bad pick-up coil?

Electronic parts have some truly bizarre failure modes..... If it's a heat-soak problem, your symptoms would fall right in line with that.

If the engine is running and you unplug the pick-up coil, shouldn't it kill the engine.
I did that and it didn't kill it. I turned it off with the switch and it wouldn't restart with it unplugged. But unplugging the pick-up coil while it is running doesn't kill it. Seems to me that it would but I'm not sure. I hate to keep bothering you.

Nope. The PCM only uses it at start-up. After that, it seems that it completely ignores it...... Though I would not be surprised if it doesn't reference it every now and again, if something else happens..

Ok, thanks! I'm trying to wait till it throws that fit again before I put the new one on.
