Default Boozer Build 1988 D100 part 2

Hey everyone!
So who’s ready for part 2?

of course my truck doesn't look like this anymore. You can check out the first thread on another big dodge forum that I was rudely expelled from. Just google it or if permitted I will link it.

This is how she sits today and I will continue on the story.

Just curious why they banned you? I was long time member there and i called out one of the moderators because he was calling one of the other members names. I copied the part of the users agreement where it says not call others names and he didn't like that so he banned me. By then it was only a fraction of what it was so no big deal. I would advise others to stay off that site especially when you can post here!

I would like to keep this thread about the truck. All I'll say is the mod felt like he wanted to write my thread how he wanted and it didn't work out. Probably similar petty disagreements as others have experienced. Im just trying to tell the story of my truck, and have a little fun along the way.

Default update :

Please bear with me while I get used to the new site and organize pictures on a new Mac. Im having picture format issues as well but will get it sorted. I ll start off by ending at the first thread.Trucks been running flawlessly other than my secondaries sticking every now and again because of lack of use. With the spike in gas prices and being a family of 4 with 4 vehicles it has been somewhat neglected. I even had an issue with a rat trying to make its home in the engine bay. I was wise to his game so I was monitoring the vehicles in the driveway. One day before a trip out in the truck I checked under the hood and found the start of a nest. In that small pile of debris I found what I assumed was a piece of vacuum line. I actually saw the vermin crawling back to the firewall and on top of the trans . I immediately went to fire up the truck with the hopes of scaring him out of there and to my surprise an eruption of oil came from the engine bay (hood open still). I had assumed I had changed that plastic sending line to the oil pressure gauge to a copper one but I hadn’t.

The booger had chewed it off right at the block back by the distributor. Didn’t help that the truck has such strong oil pressure on a cold startup too. It didn’t run for very long but the damage or I should say mess was done. I cleaned it up and got the copper line to fix any further nibblers. Anyways normal fun truck stuff right - it’s still a great runner but with the preferred non ethanol gas as well as fuel mileage I just haven’t been driving it as much as I’d like. So big plans are in place to change that. I’m going to do what I should have done from the beginning - not that I regret the magnum swap but things are a little different now with parts/prices and such so it’s time to take Boozer to the next level.

And here I thought that was a custom paint job.

What engine are you going to toss in there??

Default New motor

The plan is for a 5.7 hemi . It’s a 2016 motor that I got form a trusted local guy. It was in a truck that got hit from behind and wasn’t running at the time. I know it has an oil leak in the pan but it only had 16k miles on it and they found the leak only from driving it up on the wrecker. I’d love a 6.4 but the only ones I’ve seen were 4.5k with 100k on them vs the 2.5k I spent on this one.

one last look at the magnum cleaned up. I actually sold it for 2.5k as well - so far it will be an even trade 🤣 (not for long). The plan is to use all holley stuff available for the swap and rebuild the 46rh that’s been collecting dust in the garage from the magnum motor as they can bolt right up to the 3rd gen hemis. Even the current setup has desperately needed OD with 3.92 gears. Time to start ordering parts.

Do you think fuel mileage is going to be much better with the hemi? I would think the 4spd trans would be the biggest improvement.

Cayenne Pepper powder is your friend here. Sprinkle it around the truck and under the hood. One snort and Mr. Rat will go elsewhere. I mix it with my bird seed to keep the Squirrels out of the seed. It doesn't bother birds but mammals are irritated by it. Take a snort sometime if you don't believe me. I'd say get a cat, but they get up in there too.

I sure hope so heyyou, I swear the mag felt like it was getting 10 or so. I put straight up rat poison under it for a week ol grouch. I had a nibbler problem back in 17 when I first got the truck but these 2 have been the only instances.

this was the OG 318. Sucker had mowed down my dissy like a hungry beaver.
I got the 5.7 on the stand and flipped it to put a new pan on.

Drained and flipped.

Damage close up

Pan off
It’s worse than I thought - small piece of metal in the pan and the crank has been dragging on the windage tray part. Seller is covering the pan as well as a new srv actuator as these were the identified damaged parts. It didn’t include power steering (was electric) and no AC comp either so I will have to source those.Plan is to seal it and just send it !

New pan on and fixed the cracked SRV valve on the intake. Ordered holley headers, terminator x max, motor mounts, hemi swap mounts, trans cross member and adapter for the 46rh. New trans mount too. Tore the truck up once again. I learnt from the last swap to drain ALL fluids first 😂. While not absolutely necessary I would always advise to remove the front end. It makes things so much easier especially when adjustments might need to be made or parts don’t fit.

Front end off.

5.7 on the stand still with missing srv actuator.
