Angry Front Brakes

1990 Ram D250 RWD 3800-4000# front end Diesel.
Had the orginal rotors turned, purchased new Centric Calipers & Raybestos Brake Shoes.
Made sure that the piston was pressed back. All looked good.
Install the the brake shoes in the calper, looks good.
Problem, assemble will not slide over rotor.
Called Centric, all part numbers were correct, they tell me that I might have to shave some material off the brake shoes.
Need some help.

Tim

I have never had to do that.... New calipers, pistons should already be fully retracted, I would think.... Wouldn't hurt to put a clamp on 'em though, and see if you can push 'em back a bit further.

Orginal Rotors, just surfaced, according to a mechanic sill plenty to surface again.
This truck also has 12" drums in rear.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Doesn't add up. All those 2wds use the same calipers and pads. (150/250/350) Been driving and maintaining a cummins D250 for 15 years and no pad modifications.

Are you seeing a difference how far you can push the piston in between old and reman?

They all have 12" drums.

Seems odd that if you had the rotors turned that the calliper won’t fit over. The rotor will be narrower than original, should make it easier.

The new caliper is the same as the old, it fits, it is when I try to install the brake shoes is where the problem is.
I have even talked with Centric and Raybestos, they say I have the right part number. One even told me that I might have to shave some of the new shoes.

The Calipers 141.67003 & 004. are an exact match to the old ones.
The brake shoes that I have:
MGD269TRH
SP269TRH
PGD269M

Thank you for your help.
