I beleive you mentioned earlier that the NAV database update was a dual-layer DVD. My DVD software and writer can't write dual-layer.

What is the alternative for the NAV update?

Do the other updates require dual-layer?

The software update is on a normal CD
The Gracenotes DVD was written on a normal DVD
and the Navigation DVD was written on a Dual layer DVD.

I don't think there is any other way to install the Nav install than using the Dual Layer DVD but since I have no life, I can send you a copy of them when the software is released.. Just send me an address and I will mail them to you (Using my company's mail so you won't have to reimburse me or alternatively you can contact Harman Becker for the upgrades and they will send them to you.

Certain employees at Harman Beckerare pushing to allow the updates to be installed via USB but as of now the unit will not allow updates to be installed using the USB interface.

If you want you can pick up a dual layer capable DVD burner for around $30 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827129018) and I'll give you the burning software if you like..

I believe Harman Becker is getting ready to ship now so as soon as they do I'll post the images..As I said earlier.. If they don't send the Gracenotes and Nav updates I'll post what I have.. (I have a feeling they are going to just send out the software CDs and not the other updates) but I'll see what they send me first..

I would rather not release the 2 DVDs they sent me cause that's what killed my radio however I have a feeling it was just a bad burn and reburning the images should fix it sinceboth installs continued to completion when I just left the DVDs in the radio. If I do release the 2 DVDs I will reburn them, test them,and make sure they won't cause any issues for anyone before releasing them.

 

Your efforts are appreciated. I am going to get my radio replaced this week... they don't know why it is rebooting when music is being loaded from USB.. USB performance is also really bad.. 300Mb of music won't upload to it and it reboots about 15 - 20 minutes into the transfer.. They are suspecting a hardware issue with the USB on the unit and said they have replaced at least a half dozen units so far.

I am also taking her in for warranty work tomorrow morning. Transmission is really sloppy and acceleration is really rough.. almost like it is surging.. there is a 2nd to 1st gear 'clunk' and there is something wrong with the suspension where it's really noisy when going over small bumps.. almost like when the control arm bushings were shot on my magnum... car is too new to have suspension rattles..

 

is it still the case that only the RER will be getting the 'sort by track #' fix, and the REN won't? That's what HB told me a month ago.

that's soooooo stupid.

 

whats with these guys, they keep pushing off the release date!! Are they getting technical help from Microsoft?
