Default crack in block

i have a crack in the block down the the lower thermo houseing. i got some block weld stuff and epoxy stuff to try and seal it. i hear welding might work or i have to get a new engine. what should i do?

how did you put a crack in your block?

its a 2000 4.7. i dont know how the crack got there? it looked like a rock hit it .

I think you might be buying a new engine. Is it leaking?

ya its still leaking i did the fast fix stuff and it got down to a drip instead of a stream comin out.

Id watch your driving it as much as little as possible could seize at any moment. Just buy a new piece which ever you need bottom or top end. That or try and find a used engine the same probably cheaper than rebuilding it. I know with a leak it can seize from this im sure. I think it might only apply to two stroke but I wouldn't risk it.

I would just keep driving it until it blows. just make sure its always full of coolant.

the engine runs rough it has since i got it a new engine would kill two birds with one stone hopefully. and body know a good place to get a rebuilt one? should i get one with acc. already on it or just use the ones i got?

Ablock can be welded but I do not recomend trying it.

A better solution would be to sand blast the area, drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from spreding then grind a small V along the crack and patch it with a product call "Marine-Tex"

I have done a Caterpiller block that way and 20 years later still working.
